Plum Bundles & Scraps Of Time Update

It's been awhile since I posted anything about finding time to sew for myself.  I've been tracing lots of fabrics to prep for hand piecing while I recover from my next surgery (yeah - another one), and I've been waking up a little early now and then to finish making 1.5 inch Nine Patches for a Christmas present.
This little quilt (12 x 15) will be given to my step-mom with whom I share this love of nineteenth century living.  There is nothing she would want more, which as you know, makes giving a gift like this so worth the effort.  I'm so excited to have it finished and it's off to be quilted.  Cross that off the Christmas To-Do list!!

I've been hand stitching some wool, working on Hexies, and tracing fabrics in the evening while watching TV.  Nothing fun to share in a photo, but progress nonetheless.
This assortment of pretty plums and purples are now available in Fat Quarter and Fat Eighth bundles.  All are prints from a variety of my fabric collections for Marcus Fabrics.

Here's the link to order.

Hope you find some time to stitch to your hearts content this week.

  5. Hi Pam,

Hope your this surgery goes as well as the first one.

I have a question ... Way back in June, you posted about making Panama Pyramids. In your post , you mentioned tracing around the templates and then cutting the fabric out. I recently purchased a set of templates for machine quilting. Couldn't you just cut out your pieces with your rotary cutter without having to trace them? or Am I missing something?
I am trying to locate a copy of the magazine so I have no directions at this point.

Thanks for your time - know you are busy.

    Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

  7. A superb little quilt for your Step-Mom. Makes me want to drop everything and make one just like it, but I have to be realistic and sometimes that just takes the fun out of everything. : )
LOVE your purples (plums), Pam. In fact a month or so ago I drove to Village Dry Goods to buy more yardage of your "old Plum" line (since I had used up some of my favorites from the fat eighth bundle when I made "Light in the Window". Then just last Friday I went there again and found that luscious purple from the Antique Cottons line--had to buy 2 yards of that one. I believe I have yardage of every single purple in that bundle.
Will keep you in my prayers for your next surgery!

  9. So sorry that another surgery awaits you but hope that it helps. Your posts always inspire me to sew. I've just ordered two more bundles from you! I can't wait to get the new plums and purples. I'm in the process of making the Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt with a group, and I've wanted to add another color to my reproduction blues, greens, browns and reds. This will give it a lift! Many of my fabrics I'm using are ones I've gotten from you. So I think it will end up being mostly a Pam Buda Farmer's Wife quilt! :) I am probably not going to make all the blocks -- my goal is 50, and I'm halfway there. Hope you have a happy Thanksgiving -- I, personally, am thankful for the inspiration I get from quilt blogs like yours. Living far from a local quilt shop does NOT mean I cannot be inspired on a regular basis.

  11. Love the nine-patch quilt, it's one of my favourite blocks, and your choice of fabrics is so charming. Your MIL is one lucky woman. Hope your next surgery goes well, what a drag, especially at this time of year when everything is so busy.

  13. So sorry to hear that you have to go in for another surgery, Pam. :( Hope everything goes well and that you're feeling better soon.

I've mostly been keeping up with doing a bit of needlework every day, although I've missed a few days here and there due to the pressures of life. I've completed my goals for this year (6 projects finished, yay!), however, and plan to spend most of the Thanksgiving weekend stitching.
